state government will set up eight tribal parks | Ahmedabad News

Gandhinagar: In a bid to stimulate entrepreneurship among the tribal people and increase their access to income generation, the government of Gujarat has planned to establish eight tribal parks along the entire tribal belt of Amirgad to Dang in the state.
Land identification is underway along highways and expressways in the belt and some pockets of land in dahod and Chhota Udepur districts have already been identified, government sources said, adding that consultants have already been appointed to carry out feasibility studies for the tribal parks.
“The objective of creating these parks is to develop entrepreneurship among tribals and promote the existing traditional skills of tribal communities. The government has already made a provision of Rs 40 crore for the projects,” said an official from Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), the agency that will implement these projects.
The GIDC was tasked with identifying suitable locations, developing basic infrastructure for the parks and also setting up common equipment centers in each park. Tribal contractors will have allotment preference in those parks, officials said.
