Water project for the districts of Bitapaka

A water supply project for nine districts of Bitapaka local government in Kokopo district is underway with the completion of feasibility studies, with the Kokopo District Development Authority last week.
The local president and deputy Emil Tammur, in the presence of other members, including the mayor of the city of Kokopo, Isidor Bonga, and the president of Raluana LLG, Tiolam Wawaga, presented 300,000 K for the documented feasibility studies, carried out by Access Consultancy Services Limited. The proposed water project will cover the nine districts of Ralubang, Tabuna, Katakatai, Ratavul, Togoro, Balada, Taui 01 and 02 and Rainau.
Feasibility studies on the project began in October last year.
Edward Lamur, who is involved in the administrative part of the project, said another K100,000 has yet to be paid as a requirement under the Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WaSH) project to accommodate as much
a model project through the Department of National Planning and Monitoring.
Mr. Tammur, when presenting the payment, said he was pleased to have the documentation ready which would be presented to the DDA for further deliberation.
He said that although the work was intensive, he applauded ACSL, who used the skills of different local experts in different technical fields to prepare the document.
Mr Lamur said the project aimed to help more than 5,000 people have access to clean drinking water on their doorstep and praised Mr Tammur’s authority for his foresight in trying to provide such an important service. to the people of Bitapaka LLG.
He said a similar project would be carried out for the Raluana neighborhood.
